Joint MBG and Andover Breakfast Club meeting is a success!

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

August 17th saw the first joint meeting between MBG and the Andover Breakfast Club (organised by Bonallack and Bishop). With around 40 people attending the meeting Our venue, The Copper Kettle, was at capacity for seating and providing everyone with a delicious hot cooked breakfast.

The event started with around half an hour to grab a cuppa and mingle with the members of both groups and then breakfast was served as the longest round-robin MBG has seen for a while took place. This ensured that everyone had an opportunity to stand up and introduce themselves and their business to the room.

After breakfast there was a last opportunity to speak to other networkers and to exchange business cards before the meeting wound down at 9am.

It was a pleasure to host Andover Business Breakfast and we hope to arrange a return event where MBG members can experience one of their breakfast networking events.

If you would like more information on coming to an MBG networking breakfast event please look at our About MBG pages and our calendar of events.

The (Draft) Andover Charter

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I was recently invited to a Business of Learning Conference in Andover, hosted by Andover Vision.  As part of the conference a draft Andover charter was discussed, it has already been adopted by Andover schools, and the vision is to take it to local Andover businesses.

I have posted the charter below for peoples review and input.

The (Draft) Andover Charter

The aim of this Charter is to create the first Rights Respecting and Responsible Community in the world.

While the Human Rights Act is its bedrock, we, the citizens of Andover, expect the Charter to be a living document for signatories to adapt and develop rights and responsibilities in ways that are relevant to them - based on the following fundamental principles:

  • Everyone has rights - and a responsibility to respect the rights of others.
  • Human rights are reciprocal claims to the protection of persons’ important interests.
  • Human rights are inherent, universal and cannot be transferred or taken away.

We invite YOU to help us create a network of tolerance by standing up for the rights for ALL

Discussion:

We’d like to know what you think of the above charter.

Would you like to see any changes made and do you think it’s a good idea?

Do you think Andover needs a town charter?

Can the Rights, Respect and Responsibility idea work in the community?
